What is the mission of the GBBA?
To promote better acquaintance and friendly relations among members employed in the banking and financial services industries.
Why does the GBBA exist?
To facilitate and encourage networking and camaraderie for its members in a friendly and relaxed environment.
What charities have benefited from GBBA donations?
The GBBA annually directs contributions from a charitable trust as well as its own funds to a number of local and national charities as recommended to the Board of Management by the Charitable Distribution Committee.
When was the GBBA founded?
The GBBA was founded in 1885 originally as the Bank Officer's Association.
What is the Entertainment Committee?
The Entertainment Committee is a group of members who organize the various social events for GBBA members.
Who is on the Board?
The GBBA Board Members are nominated and elected yearly. Please choose the Contact Us link on the website for the most recent list of members.
How do I become a member?
As long as you have been an employee of a bank or financial services company for at least one year, you are eligible to join. Simply download and complete the application located on the www.gbba.net website and mail it to the address on the form with a $15 check ($12. for membership and a $3. one-time joining fee) made payable to "GBBA".
How much are the annual dues?
$12 per year per member (non-prorated). The membership period is April 1 through March 31.
Do I get a discount for referring members?
Not at this time. We do offer occasional incentives for members that register new members, however.
What do I get as part of my membership?
Members have the opportunity to purchase discounted tickets for themselves and their guests to 5 or 6 social events per year and are invited to the Annual Dinner held in May.
When do I pay my dues?
Prior to March 31 in order to be invited to the Annual Dinner in May.
Can I pay by credit card?
Not at this time.
I would like to find out if anyone else in my organization is a member, can I find out?
We do not publish this information however you will more than likely meet other co-workers at GBBA sponsored events.
How do I find out about events?
A flyer with an order form attached will be mailed approximately 45-60 days prior to an event. Events will also be listed under the Events tab on the gbba.net web site.
Do I have to attend all events as a member?
No, you may attend as many of the events you wish.
What is the annual dinner and what is its purpose?
Each year in May, the GBBA conducts its Annual Meeting to elect officers and conduct other necessary business. Members enjoy an evening of fine dining, camaraderie, prizes and entertainment free of charge.
How much do events cost me?
Other than the Annual Dinner which is free, events are based on the cost of the event. Members are able to purchase one ticket at a substantial discount to the face value of the ticket as well as discounted tickets for guests.
Can I bring a non-member to an event?
Yes, however you will need to purchase a ticket at the "Guest" rate.
Transportation to events?
Transportation is generally not provided to GBBA events unless it is a "bus trip" type event.
Is there a way that I can suggest a future event?
Yes. You may email or call any member of the Entertainment Committee with your suggestion(s).
